Course Overview

Join other creatives on this limitless adventure reimagining the world of the future through artistic design!

Engage with fellow cohort members and learn how Design Thinking can solve challenges, utilizing art as a way to be a changemaker for good.

Spark inspiration and learn from others as you share your ideas in a vibrant and collaborative space.

You will create unique inventions, and one-of-a-kind landscapes with the power of imagination and the help of our amazing art instructors!

Gain confidence in your artistic abilities as you learn new techniques and elevate your skills in each session.

Session Details:

  • Session 1: Scenario – students will explore the many tools and techniques of art fundamentals while learning how to effectively collaborate with other learners in a visual environment. Students will be immersed in illustration techniques and principles to deepen their understanding of composition, Value Shading, and Color Theory.
  • Session 2: Thumbnail Sketching – we will work together to come up with numerous preliminary thumbnail prototypes in answer to the prompt. Design Mentors will be available to guide students and help them implement the variety of digital and traditional media tools effectively. Students will learn essential sketching skills, practice proportions, and identify simple shapes within complex subjects.
  • Session 3: Share Session – we will present our series of images giving each student a chance to share their best ideas, explain their aesthetic choices, and collaborate on a decision that will enable their progress. Learners will be introduced to depth, understand color hues as well as contrast, and learn helpful techniques enabling their art pieces to stand out.
  • Session 4: Using the best ideas and concepts from the Share Session, students will further refine their original prototype into a completed digital or traditional composition utilizing Color and Value. Students will learn how to use layers to add depth, colors to add contrast, and techniques to add details that make their designs stand out.

Materials Needed for Art Cadets Courses

Pencils, Paper

Traditional Materials: art paper, Your favorite coloring supplies (Markers, Colored Pencils, Oil Pastels or similar)

Digital Media: if the student has a tablet and stylus this would be excellent, but if not, a mouse or trackpad can also be used for drawing
